What can I do with a failed GPU?
Hi. A friend of mine gave me his old 2006 iMac (model A1207, EMC 2118). Its GPU is starting to fail, so I can't keep it running Mac OS X for more than 5 minutes before everything crashes. Since the GPU is soldered to the logic board the only solution would be a logic board replacement, but I don't want to spend ~100$ on such an old computer. I tried booting a CLI version of Linux and it seems to work fine without a GUI, however I don't find it useful at all.
Do you think there's still anything it may be good for or should I just tear it down for parts?
Is this a good question?
