Why is my HP Laser Jet 4+ crinkling up paper and jamming

My Laser Jet 4+ is crinkling up paper and jamming. It has never done this before. I am using only 20lb paper. It has been so reliable, I am wondering if there is something that needs to be adjusted.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Check the paper path to see if there is some paper or other object jammed in there. In addition, the rubber rollers that push the paper along do eventually shrink slightly and harden. A kit to replace them is typically about $20.

do what Dak said. I had the exact problem and it seemed to be clear of any objects. I took it apart from the back and a few small parts from around my shop fell out of it. I thought i had to buy a new one and it started working perfectly. Be sure to pull the back off though and not just check the input where the paper goes.

Usually when an accordian jam occurs in this type of printer, it happens in the exit / fuser area. Replacing the exit delivery rollers RF5-1076 and 1077 that are located in the back of printer will fix this accordian jam issue, otherwise its the fuser assembly.
