Lightening Port, No longer functions due to impact damage.

I fell over resulting in the Touch Screen Glass being cracked around the "Home Button" and the "Lightening Port" exposing a small hole between the Port and the Home Button

The iPod functioned for the rest of the day, until I tried to connect it to download all the content to my PC.

The connection failed half way through the procedure. ( Tested the cable on another iPod - works fine. )

No connection and no charge available now.

I think there is a guide to getting in to the iPod etc?

I would be most grateful if you could tell me,

What parts will I need, apart from the Glass Touch Screen?

And is soldering going to be involved?

Thank you. :)

BillBasketcase, here is a copy of my answer to a very similar question:" sounds like you are referring to the lightning port assembly. check this guide around step 22 as well as this video to see what you are up against. The part is available at places like this as well as many others.
