Why won't my Wii read any disks

My wii was reading disks fine, however when me and my brother were playing Mariokart we were the same character, shortly after starting the race the wii crashed. when ever we turned it back on it looked normal but now wont read ANY disk. Is this software issue or I saw somewhere that this means it's corrupted memory. As far as repair would i have to replace the motherboard or drive or reinstall the software. Also I understand that worst case scenario i would have to buy a new wii (u) or send it in for repair
