Wont Turn On / Cable Gets Hot

Hello, I am a guide on the river and we were out playing and swimming and I found a GoPro at the bottom of the river. It worked for about 3 months then I took it snowboarding and it just shut off. I tried to charge it and it won't charge. I bought a new batter and it won't turn on or charge still. Also the charging cord gets really hot when I try to charge it. GoPro won't fix it because I didn't buy it and I found it.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Andrew Davis, heat=shortcircuit. Right after you found it and tried to find the owner unsuccessfully you should have disassembled the GoPro and cleaned it with some 90% isopropyl alcohol. You most likely now have corrosion damage on the board and the components have shorted out. Disassemble it and see if you find some obvious damage. here are the guides for it.
