Fan only on for half second when power button is pressed

After I had finished reattaching the heatsinks and resecuring the gpu and cpu to mother board to the xbox (it had RROD) I try to turn it on. However, whenever I press the power button I hear the fans run for about 1/2 a second, also at the same time the psu light is green. Immediately after the fans stop and the psu light turns orange and then it proceeds to RROD. I have replaced the psu. (Note: this xbox has a xenon board and i have confirmed that both psus are 203 watt psus and are compatible with that board)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Andrew McDonald, sounds like a failed RROD repair. A reflow might fix it for a while but even reflows are very limited. RROD on a Xbox are caused by the design of the processor, not necessarily by bad or cracked solder joints. The only repair that would fix it permanently is a new BGA. Try this repair again and you may have to change the approach a bit by adjusting the heat. It is a hit and miss situation and most first time failure with this is caused by not applying to much heat, whereas to much will totally remove the IC's. Yes, replace the thermal paste again,

Ok just wondering would getting the ifixit RROD fix kit fix this or will i have to reball the BGA. Because all I did was follow a guide which had me tighten the heatsinks to a more secure state.

I wont mind if I have to reball it since I want to get as much experience as possible in repairs

So besides the X-clamp kit you can try to do a "reflow" Use this guide Reflowing Xbox 360 Motherboard
