How to fix the Restoring the ps3

When trying to restore its says restore do not turn off system. it will load only part way and stop. It only loads to 50%. Can't get it past it. So what can I do to fix it

Hi Rebecca, is the PS3 only part assembled? The PS3 does a system check on restore to make sure all components are connected to the motherboard.

If it is connected up as it should then I would suggest swapping the HDD for a known working one, even a 20gb one will do. I would think the restore is hitting a bad sector on the hdd causing the system to crash or fail.
