Front and Rear camera not working after iPhone 5 screen replacment

Hi all,

Hopefully you guys can help me out...

I just replaced a screen on an iphone 5 for a customer. Everything seems to be working fine except the cameras...

The front camera is a static blur and does not allow you to even take a picture. I've ordered a new front camera and flex cable for that.

My concern is the rear camera... it does work but has trouble focusing. It does focus but it takes a while. When i switch to video, panorama or any of the other options it does funky things. Sometimes it does not switch at all and freezes showing all black in the frame, sometimes it does switch but does not allow me to tap the button to take a picture or video.

I'm a little concerned - the camera was working fine before the repair and I'm always careful with my repairs. Could I have somehow damaged the rear camera? are the front and rear cameras tied in somehow so if I replace the front camera the rear camera will start functioning properly again?

I don't know if it helps any but I disconnected the battery for the install.

Hopefully someone has some ideas. Thanks

If the front camera is failing, the back camera will likely also, they are linked in that sense.

I ordered a new assembly and front facing camera/flex strip cable. I also ordered a new rear camera just in case. My hope is that I can just install a new front facing camera and it will fix things.

How bad was the original screen? Cracked but still working? If so, I wonder what the camera does with that screen connected?
