My Asus Zenfone2 audio jack only plays in the right ear

Hello,

I have an ASUS Zenfone2 (the model with 2gbs of ram) , and the audio only works in the right ear. It's very weird though, because all it takes to get the left ear to work, is to push the top part of the headphone jack towards the screen (there is an insane amount of give) . It doesn't even take that much pressure, but it doesn't stay. I have looked at another solution (How can I repair the headphone jack?) but it doesn't seem to work. I think I need to put the plastic more at the base of the jack, which would probably involve opening up the phone. I tried, but I only got so far as taking out the screws on the back, because it wasn't coming off easily, and I really would prefer not to risk my warrenty to much.

So my question, is their an easy solution to this? Or should I just bite the bullet and RMA it? (Which involves a $25 processing fee)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

If it's in warranty or the RMA period, do that. The jack may be fractured internally, and hard to fix. For older devices, it's worth doing this kind of fix yourself, but the risk/reward tradeoff isn't worth it for warranty or returnable devices, in my experience.
