Xbox reboots just after switching on and trying to sign in.

After switching on xbox(360 with 250 GB) it will go to the sign in page. When trying to sign in it freezes for a couple of seconds, then reboots. This is repeated. However, the green light on the powerbox does not go out, nor does the light on the controller. Normally if there is power loss the controller would switch off also.

If the xbox is left on the sign in page it remains on but only cuts off if asked to do something like sign in, or if i want to enter into for example system settings.

I also found that if i have the ethernet cable plugged in the console only got as far as the green welcome page and didnt get as far as the sign in page. I do hear a click sound from the back of the console when the system freezes and reboots.

I havnt a clue about it as its not showing any lighting issues and was unsure if it was some sort of hardware issue as its worse when the console is connected via ethernet.

Playing games: if i remain unsigned and click to play a game it will play it as normal.

Any one have any ideas...

Thanks
