Display defekt, Umbau zum Station-PC möglich?

Hallo Zusammen,

ich habe vor einem halbem Jahr einen iMac 27" von 2011 privat gekauft. Dieser Kauf hat sich leider als Fehlentscheidung herausgestellt, da nach einem Monat in meinem Besitz regelmäßig (meistens innerhalb der ersten Stunde) das Display ausfällt.

Mir geht es nun nicht darum das Problem zu fixen. Ellenlange Foreneinträge und diverse Beratungen von Reparaturwerkstätten sind der gleichen Meinung. Eine Reparatur ist zu teuer und die Ursache des Problems kann so vielseitig sein, dass es sogar bei einem Tausch der gesamten Displayeinheit keinen Erfolg haben muss. Fazit: Zu teuer für keine Gewährleistung, dass es sich lohnt.

Also bin ich zu dem Schluss gekommen, das Display zu duplizieren und nun hängt der iMac an meinem TV (leider nur Full HD).

Ich würde nun gerne den iMac umbauen/ausschlachten, sodass ich später nur noch eine Art Station-PC hab (wie Mac mini) da die Leistungswerte ja nicht zu verachten sind. Bislang ist es nämlich so, dass der iMac im Wohnzimmer zu viel Platz frisst und der Bildschirm auch noch an ist, bis er dann irgendwann ausfällt.

Ich würde die Komponenten also gerne für einen Homeserver nutzen... habt ihr eine Idee oder Erfahrungen?

Auf den Punkt nochmal, was ich möchte:

Entweder und bevorzugt:

iMac umbauen, sodass er vom Display getrennt ist und bestenfalls in einem anderen Gehäuse ist.

Oder:

Zumindest das Display trennen, wäre das bedenklich?

To me it's not about to fix the problem now. Yard-long postings and various consultations of repair shops are of the same opinion. A repair is too expensive and the cause of the problem can be so versatile that it must even have no success in an exchange of the entire display unit. Conclusion: Too expensive for not ensuring that it is worth.

So I came to the conclusion to duplicate the display and now the iMac (only Full HD unfortunately) depends on my TV.

I would now like to rebuild the iMac (cannibalize), so I later only a kind of station-PC have (like Mac mini) as the power values ​​are not to be despised. So far, it is in fact so that the iMac is eating up too much space in the living room and the screen also is still on, until he eventually fails.

So I would like to use the components for a home server ... you have an idea or experience?

To the point again, what I want:

iMac converted so that it is separate from the display and is at best in another case.

Or:

At least disconnect the display, which would be questionable?
