Why does my computer not recognize my iPod classic?

I just installed a new battery and seems to be playing fine but computer says device not recognized. It's an 80 gb 5th generation. I just upgraded to windows 10. Would that have anything to do with it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

did you reinstall iTunes with your Windows update just to make sure? Also, try a different computer and see what happens.

Would downloading the latest version of iTunes fix it? I still don't see how that would help if the computer does not recognize it. I just get a malfunfunction and coruption mesdage. I can't see that anything is wrong with it when I play it.

jdennis61, if your computers software does not know what it is looking it, it will not recognize it. I'd start by ensuring that you have the newest version of iTunes installed with your OS update. This does not mean that it is going to fix this, but it will take the guessing out of it.
