Helo Folks,

I got same same problem, i got one 3gs to replace flex audio cable, for silence button probme, them when i reassemble the backligth turn on 1sec and turn on when boot,...

When i dissasemble it first time the lcd cable had damaged, then i must replace it for a new one, then that happens...

The big problem is the iphone is not mine, is from costumer who take to me fix flex audio cable, now that...

I very worry now i must give the iphone to costumer and it not working well :( and here in brazil a 3gs is very expensive like 500usd and a secondhand 300usd damnn :(

you could try to reset the phone (press and hold the sleep and the home button until the phone restarts) - BUT - that might not help at all.

the iphone 3g/3gs are very problematic and a very common problem is a coil that get toasted when the phone was not shut down while tinkering.

the things you are describing are pointing to exact that problem.

it is fixable - but only for a "guerilla-pro". it could get pricey too - to fix this phone - another one has to die.

update

i've found a different fix, but it's not easier to do

update 2

here are the 2 fixes

Block Image

the first is with replacing the coil - that might be the better fix

Block Image

the next one is with a jump wire, sounds easy - but its not, the soulder joints are tiny and nobody knows exactly how long this fix will work (and the logicboard might be toast after that)

i took the pictures from a gsm page - so don't ask about high-res. pictures - thats everything i have.

ok, good luck - but be careful - the parts are tiny

i think that was not the problem, i forgot to say if i switch on the phone the display backlight showes up for 1 sec and then stays off linke a blink at the apple symbol on start just for 1 sec maybe less.
