Will not connect to the Laptop or Itunes!

So I haven't use my iPod in a while, Need it updating for my holiday in 6 days.

I connect it into the Laptop, The laptop makes a noise if something is connected but nothing it showing up, when i very first connected it, it opened iTunes for me like usual but then said it's not recognised.

I've tried looking on iTunes for it but no sign that, that recognises it either!

Please Help, I am so desperate to get this sorted!!

Hello,

First could you try another port on your PC?

I did locate a helpful troubleshooting guide for the Nano.
