Camera out of focus after replacing battery

Hi,

I replaced the battery and everything seems fine except the rear camera can't focus when taking pictures close up (for example, text in a book). I upgraded to IOS 8.4 recently and can't recall if I had this problem before so I am not sure if it is a function of me replacing the battery and something getting damaged or my recent IOS update. The battery works GREAT and I did not remove the screen and pop off the 3 connectors when replacing the battery so I don't know. Does anyone know if replacing a battery could cause a rear camera close-up focus problem? Thanks!

I opened the iPhone 5 case again and pushed a little on what looked like the rear camera and the close focus worked again for a few seconds, but then when I closed the case starting from the top (near the camera) which is recommended, the camera didn't near focus again. I did this a few times. Any suggestions from the ifixit crowd on what my problem might be?

It seems like you just need to place rear camera into place. Make sure to not be hitting it when closing the phone. The plastic tabs might be hitting the rear camera (right top corner) when you close the phone

YES. I took apart the case again and pushed the spot where the rear camera was attached. SUCCESS! now in focus :)

Possible dirt or dust on the inside of the lens or on the back camera, try cleaning camera and lens, could be faulty camera also.

Also, getting too close to something won't allow the camera to focus properly, it only focuses so much :-)

Thanks for the answer but it isn't that. I tried cleaning lens. Also, previously the picture was sharp when close up, but I am not sure if this problem started before I replaced the battery.

Battery replacement wouldn't cause issue with the camera really.

Have you made sure the back camera is all the way down? Sometimes the back camera gets stuck on the little metal pin at the side next to it.

I just had one today that wouldn't focus, and I swapped the camera out with a new one, and that fixed it.

But could have replacing a battery caused it? Any suggestions about re-opening the case and checking anything that would cause the rear camera not to focus?
