superdrive, hard drive and memory replace and upgrade

Has anyone attempted to take apart the iMac G4 17" 1 Ghz model. My DVD drive died and I figured while it is open upgrade everything I can. I have spare 1GB DIMM ram, spare 250 GB Hard drive and spare DVD drive, also that thermal paste. Any advice will be helpful, and if anyone has a step by step guide with pictures will also be appreciated.

Thank you.

Update

The upgrade went flawlessly, the machine is performing better than before.

FYI to install a OEM DVD/CD burner you must remove the entire plastic faceplate of the drive case.

Here's a 24 page instruction guide on the optical and hard drive replacement. This is one of the most difficult machines to work on that Apple ever made so take your time: http://www.faqintosh.com/risorse/en/guid...

Make sure you have the correct RAM, ATA/IDE hard drive and optical that will work.
