Unit shuts off during play

My PS3 120 GB Slim system shuts off shortly after starting a game or bluray. It seems to play standard dvd's OK. When it shuts off it beeps and then the red light slowly blinks.

any ideas?

Options

It seems that its overheating so make sure its in a well ventilated place and upright if possible.

If problem persists, you might want to reapply thermal paste on the GPU and CPU.
