John Girtman, error code E2 is indicative of a shorted thermistor. The thermistor is a component that changes its resistance according to temperature and is monitored by the control board monitors to regulate the operating temperatures. . If the control board does recognize a certain range of resistance of the thermistor, the control board will stop the dryer and display "E2". Start by replacing the thermistor

On kenmore 110 series, including he models, an e2 by itself is either lid lock or the thermistor at the water inlet. The lid locks on these are surprisingly fragile and hard to test so dont take the mechanism off unless it fails a continuity test from the plug. Thermistors on the water inlet are easy to test when they go bad they almost always have zero continuity at any temp.
