Darwin Kernel Version 8.0.0 won't boot

At start up, my Ibook G4 with Tiger 10.4.11 wont boot from hard drive or Mac OS X disk. Error is "Darwin Kernel Version 8.0.0: Sat Mar 26 14:15:22 PST 2005; root:xnu-792.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC panic: we are hanging here...". In December of 2009, I replaced the logic board, upgraded hard drive to 160GB, upgraded to Superdrive, installed 1GB ram(total 1.25, replaced battery and installed Tiger 10.4 with all updates to 10.4.11. It has worked great until it wasn't used for 1 week. Now it wont boot from hard drive (i get the flashing ? with the Mac face. If I try to boot from the Tiger disk, I get the Darwin Kernel Version 8.0.0 panic. I have tried so many things like single user mode with no success. Open Firmware-no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jake

Hello Jake, The first thing I usually recommend is the remove the memory. Replace if possible --otherwise make sure contacts are clean and reinstall. Ralph

Thanks for the info. I have tried this and I get the apple logo, the hard drive spins as does the superdrive. Now I get apple logo and nothing else happens.

Well lets look at the ? then. Can you boot from the OS disk? If you can goto utilities and run disk repair until it reports no trouble found. Please let me know how that works out. Ralph

if I boot from the HDD, then I get the flashing ?. If I boot from the OS, I get the kernel panic screen. I have removed the extra RAM and the airport card and I still get nothing.I have reset the NVPRAM and the PRAM and I have removed the hard drive and tried to boot from the OS and I still get the kernel panic. I thought about putting the OS disk on a jump drive and am trying to figure out if that will even work. I hate to give up on this machine as I have basically rebuilt it. any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
