My computer won't turn on

Hello, at first sorry for my english, it's not my first lenguage.

So I have a Macbook Pro 15" Unibody late 2008 that won't start. I had a broken battery but it worked perfectly, but sometimes when I plugged it off I had to reset the SMC because the computer would not turn on.

About a week ago I left the house for a weekend so I plugged the computer off and when I came back home it wouldn't turn on. I tried to reset the SMC but the problem persisted.

At this point I bought a new battery in Amazon and try the same process again but by now the Macbook Pro don't turn on.

Any idea? I don't think the computer is totally broken, I think that the SMC is blocked or something like that.

Let's start by resetting the NVRAM: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

Hello, @mayer, I can reset the NVRAM because I can't even start the computer, and because of this, I can't hear the startup sound.

Alex, we need more information on what it WILL do. Loosen the top (do not disconnect the keyboard), and see if you get any movement from the fans when press the start button or any sound from the optical drive. Have you opened it before or this time?

by

Hello mayer, thank you for your responses.

I'm going to tell you what I have done at this moment. I have loosen the top, put off the hard drive and the RAM, close everything and try again. Not worked.

I have loosen the top again, and with the top off tried to turn the computer on and it worked. I have closed the top, put the new battery and try to turn on the computer and it worked.

But now the click on the trackpad doesn't work. I will try to reset the NVRAM and the PRAM.

UPDATE: I have reset the NVRAM and the trackpad is properly working again.

Thank you very much for your help, @mayer

If you have it, put a pick of Kaptan tape over the keyboard to logic board connector to help hold it in place. Glad I could help you get it running.
