What is a good self-making, food-safe gasket material?

I have an In-Sink-Erator hot water dispenser, model SST like this one. The unit started leaking the other day. I examined it thoroughly after taking off the cover and found that it was leaking at the seam between the top and bottom of the tank where the tank is bolted together around a rubber seal. I called insinkerator and was told that they "don't stock internal pieces" and it would be "cheaper" for me to replace it than get it fixed. Hogwash! The seal looks like a liquid sealant that was laid in by machine, I'm sure I can lay a new seal, but before I go use some intake manifold gasket maker, I'm hoping someone here can point me to a good seal material that is food-safe?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Same here. Since we're dealing with pressure and boiling water I will go the way of replacing the tank for my H3300 system (with new NEO tank part 45096). Disappointing to have to throw away tank and electronics for a simple join.
