My volume only iPhone 4 won't turn up but when on the phone with someone it will then when I hang up with them and try to turn the volume back up it won't work and also I try playing games there is no sound and when I go to download music you can't hear it

This sounds like something is up with the charging port. The phone thinks a dock connector is in and that is why volume keys won't work. Sometimes the audio jack would give the same issues but usually you will see the volume bar go up and down but it would say headphones.
Try cleaning the charging port and if that doesn't work, replace it!
