info on transferring data prior to replacement?

Hi,

I just purchased a 1TB SSD Hybrid hard drive to replace my 750GB drive. When I replaced the last HD there was a procedure that I followed to transfer data to the new drive. If I remember correctly I backed up everything to the new drive while installed in the provided case then I swapped that new drive with the original.

I want to make sure that don't miss a step and that I do it correctly. I can't locate the instruction page that I followed last time. It worked very well and before I search the internet I thought I should ask you first.

Thanks,

Howard Pitkow

You can follow the instructions at https://support.apple.com/kb/PH20578?vie...

You can use the disk itself as the source just as you would a disk image.

Good answer but assumes the disk is already formatted for Apple. Use Disk Utility to format the disk GUID and mac extended - journaled first.
