My Samsung LN40B530P7 TV will not show anything but a black screen

I got the thing out of my neighbors trash and it seemed to work fine, so I started using it and I noticed after about an hour of use the tv would heat up and start flickering a little, the longer it let it run the worse the flickering became also I noticed if I rocked the TV back and forth it would make it flicker more or stop flickering for a few seconds, I figured it was some type of loose connection, so I took off the back cover let it run to the point where it was flickering badly, and i started wiggling connectors, I found one that I disconnected blew the dust out and reconnected it and the flickering would stop, I would wiggle the connector and it would start again. I figured that this had to be my problem. I lost trust in that connector and decided to take the board out and just solder the connection in directly to the board. But when I put it all back together, now when I try and turn it on I hear the welcome sounds and the Indicator light flashes 5 times, but there is no picture, I would greatly appreciate any help or advice that you have!

the very first thing you want to do is to post plenty of images of your boards as well as of your repair. A connector usually does not fail after it warms up etc. that is more a bad heatsink, caps or mosfet error. Let us see how you fixed it.
