Getting a New Keyboard (Old Doesn't Work)

Howdy everyone! I purchased a MacBook Pro on eBay for my cousin, and the keyboard doesn't fully work. Most of the keys fail to react when pressed, so I want to get a new keyboard, but the only ones available are the new ones for the newer models. (They have the Exposé and Dashboard keys on the top.) The keyboard that belongs to the A1211 model doesn't have the keys arranged that way, and I'm wondering if it would render the new keys properly or would it behave as though it has the old keyboard arrangement? Does anyone know?

Would a different model of the keyboard even work? Thanks so much!

I hope all are well!

you can replace the old one with the newer one - but you have to do a software fix to use it correctly

read this: CLICK

it sounds a little bit complicated, but the guide is pretty good

anyway - you still could replace the newer, different key caps with your old key caps - that way you could ignore the setting stuff and use the keyboard as usual

Thank you so much! I hadn't thought about the switching of the keys! Haha. I'll also look into that software thingy.
