Water damaged. cleaned parts in 91% isopropyl, new battery. WHAT NEXT?

I went camping for my birthday weekend in July(shared w/ America). After camping on an island, we went white water rafting and I put my phone in a Water-Proof Otterbox Armor series case. Yup you guessed it, my phone got soaked!! Guess who can't afford a new one...

So I left the phone in rice overnight when I got home. Next day plugged it in and saw the low battery/ charging image display on the screen. I instantly disconnected it, and threw it back into the rice for another 2 days. Removed it, tested again and no signs of life.

So I bought some tools, read some iFixit, and got the courage to tackle the problem.

Opened it up, Inspected and cleaned all parts that showed signs of corrosion with 91% isopropyl. (pretty much only 1 out of 3 of the display cables.) Still no signs of life after drying, so I removed the logic board and soaked it overnight, got at it with a toothbrush, and it looks fine.

NOTE: I did not remove the shields as I don't want to do any permanent damage to my phone just yet without ruling out all other possibilities.

I then purchased a new battery from iFixit hoping it was the battery. Still no signs of life at all!!

I'm about to order a lightning connector.

Do you think this can be the fix? What should I try if this connector doesn't work?

Any feedback will be MUCH appreciated!! Especially since Otterbox refuses to provide any more than an "I'm so sorry"

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

in order to properly treat a liquid damage you need to take all the shield off with a heat gun for you to be able to clean out all the corrosion and also have a new set of screen battery and dock connector for troubleshooting.

sorry for the bad news. good luck!

Thanks for your reply! I've read about how to remove the shield, but don't find anything regarding how to reinstall the shield. If you can provide a short explanation I'd be extremely appreciative!
