Are All 3G Phones the Same

I am selling my family's iPhone 3G (8 & 16gig models) phones and have some questions:

NOTE: at present they are all locked to AT&T.

1. Are all 3G models the same hardware?

2. Can I restore them all to the same hardware/software configuration?

3. Should I unlock them prior?

depending on the model version of the iphones (MB or MC model)

you can update them to ios4 and jailbreak/unlock them.

but as i wrote in your other question - read a lot

(it's easier when you know what you're doing)
