How do I fix an iPod that does not respond to touch?

I received an Ipod Touch. I have never had a problem with it...until today. All of a sudden, while looking through some photos....my screen stopped responding...

I can press buttons like the on/off button, volume, etc (buttons not involving the screen), but the screen is not frozen, because I can control my ipod using the circle button on the bottom.... it's just the screen is well...untouchable!

It has absolutely no damage....it's never been near water, I've never dropped it and it has no guarantee. I might be able to send it back anyway....because of the circumstances. But I don't want to get fined because it was just on some sort of screen lock or something.

i would try to reset it - press and hold the home and the sleep button until the ipod restarts - that should take around 10 seconds.

what about warranty ?

surely some things can be fixed on your own - but that involves money and you will be voiding the warranty (just in case something "bigger" would happen)

if the reset wont work and the ipod is out of warranty - you can try to reseat the touchscreen connector and if that won't work either - replace the touch screen.
