Hard drive wiped, I think.

Today my ipod fell from 2 feet on to cement. there were lines on the screen and would still play music. I took it apart and adjusted the screen and now the lines are gone. But now when I turn it on this symbol comes up

It's not finding the hard Drive. I would re-open it and make sure that the hard drive cable is properly seated.

Try this.....Give the iPod a little "slap" against the palm of your wrist and see if that helps. Not too hard, but enough to jolt the needle of the drive.

the hard drive worked after you dropped the ipod - so i could be a connection problem. since you wrote that the hdd is connected - that could be ruled out.

there are surely a few things you could try:

programs like "recover my ipod" are one thing you could try

but the first thing i would try is the "ear and finger test" ;-)

can you hear the hard drive spin when you power on the ipod?

or in case you are older and can't hear that much (like me - lol) - can you feel the vibrations of the drive?

when you disassembled the ipod - did you place the hdd near a speaker, a megnetic screwdriver or something else that could be magnetic?

I can hear the drive spin, the iPod wasn't near any magnetic sourses.
