My Controller Won't turn off? What should I do?

I was playing the demo of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on my Wii U. While I was fighting, my controller stopped working. It was still on, but the controls would not work. It switched the controls to the Gamepad and now it won't do anything and won't turn off.
