How to use the mic input as a line-in recorder? Asus X550JX

Hello,

I'm a fresh owner of a laptop Asus X550JX-xx017D and I would like to know if the combo connector could be used to record some material from an external source (radio, cassette or pick-up). If is possible, I would like to know the manner how.

Thank, have a nice day,

Thanks a lot oldtuckey03, I bought a 3.5mm adapter TRRS and I must admit, you were right, recorded sound is terrible, can not be heard. I started putting money apart for a reliable usb sound card.

Greetings!

Costin DRAGHIA, you can't use a standard 1/8" input since that port is only compatible with a combo jack plug. You might be able to use an adapter like this one. It is not a headphone splitter, so do not get those. You have to make sure that it is a TRRS 3.5mm connector. Than use the mic in for your recording from a sound source. I'd recommend adding a USB soundcard. The built in audio adapter in most laptops really isn't great for recording.
