Can I install a ssd on newest 13" MacBook Pro without retina?

Am I able to install an ssd in replacement of the optical drive on the newest 13" MacBook Pro without retina display? Also am I able to upgrade the ram myself, I keep seeing things that say yes and some say no. Thanks

As long as you do indeed have the 13 Inch Unibody MacBook Pro Model A1278 (or non-retina, as you called it) then yes, you can install an SSD in place of the optical drive and you can also upgrade the RAM.
