Can I upgrade processor

I have a Apple iMac 27" A1312 Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, OSX

and I would like to know if I can upgrade the core two duo processor to say I5 processor or I7 processor CPU.

Yes & No ....

Depending on which exact model you have you could replace the CPU chip with a higher clocked Core 2 Duo. But that wouldn't gain you that much given the amount of work and trying to find one of these older chips.

As to upgrading to the newer i series chips i3, i5 or i7 is not workable as they use a different socket type.
