New screen completely black, but can show backlight

Hi!

I recently purchased an iPhone 5 screen assembly (without speaker, camera etc.) and installed it on my iPhone. It was currently drained, so I connected it to my Mac and it showed the charging symbol (the red battery). But then later it went black. I tried:

- Hard/soft reset

- Software update

- reconnecting screen

- cleaning connectors

If I connect my old screen, which is shattered, and then reconnect the new screen, the backlight will turn on. If I try to reboot after doing this, I'm back to an entirely black screen.

{EDIT:

Turns out after a while after reboot, the new screen will show backlight, but still no image.

}

Btw, the touchscreen does not work in any cases.

Thanks for answering.

I actually bought a new screen and that fixed my problem. I'll try to return the screen I had bought, but it was from an Amazon-like seller so I won't get my hopes up.

Heads up to anyone who wants to buy an iPhone screen replacement, I know it's been said before: ONLY buy from trusted sellers. In my case, I bought it from my local repair shop with 2 year warranty.

It sounds to me like you got a bad ribbon cable connection on your LCD so you may have a bad LCD connection somewhere the screen is bad send it back and by the way you have to watch out where you buy those from because Amazon is known for bad parts you need to find a dealer that has OEM
