My iPhone 4s isn't picking up any wifi networks

Can someone please help me. My wifi on my iPhone 4s isn't picking up any networks, they don't appear under the wifi when it's searching. Does anyone know what part would need replacing for it to work?

Sounds more than likely that the wifi chip is failing, this is a very common issue on the 4S.

You would need to reflow the wifi chip, or replace it. :-)

Hi thanks for the reply. Do you know any other problems it could be as that is quite a big job. so I can try because the parts are cheap.

Hey, I'm having the same problem with my 4s. Where is the chip and how can I "Reflow" it?

Thanks,

is it worth reflowing a maybe $150 phone? my trick is to leave it behind a window with a lot of sunlight, until it overheats and gives you the caution and turns off ... after this the wifi chip works for a but ... if it don't ... you know its you antenna but in this case i think it more a case of the chip needing a reflow as the tiny amount of solder (the stuff that keeps the chip connected to the logic board) has degraded overtime due to the phone being warm while operational and going cold when not in use ... solder hates this but usually holds. in you case a a bunch of other iPhone 4S ... particularly white one i have found (don't ask me why ... i personally have just seen this happen more on white iPhone 4S the Black ones ) odd or just coincidence. do not by any means let loose your hairdryer on it !!! specially directly on the screen as you will leave heat stains on the screen.

The real fix is to get the Wi-Fi IC chip replaced properly.

Of course the real fix is to replace the wifi chip, but is it really worth it these days? A 4S is so %#*@ cheap now, most people can get another one so cheaply, and most won't pay a repair fee for it to be repaired, or most shops won't offer it for the little amount of profit and effort.

You can replace the wifi antenna. It's the one that sits on top of the headphone jack & plugs into the logic board. But in my experience that has never worked. Ged is right about the wifi chip

Thank you, yes, I've rarely seen the wifi antenna fail, it's definitely most of the time the wifi chip :-)
