upgrade processor i7 CPU

I have a Apple iMac 27" A1312 Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, OSX

and I would like to know if I can upgrade the core two duo processor to say I5 processor or I7 processor CPU.

Sadly no.

The I series processors use a different socket and the power & cooling requirements are different.
