Can I route a Displayport Cable directly to the LCD Panel?

Greetings!

I have a somewhat technical question.

I idiotically purchased a 27" Apple Thunderbolt display which I never really used.

I now have a PC with no thunderbolt ports on the main board. Additionally, there are no PCI Express Thunderbolt cards that will work either.

Is it possible for me to route a Displayport cable directly into the LCD wiring on the flat panel inside the Thunderbolt display? Is there anyway, techncial or not, that I can get this display to work on my Displayport graphics card?

I haven't opened up the display yet, but I'm ready to do so if it's possible.

I think you'd be better off selling your display and getting the correct one for your PC. If its still boxed I'm sure you can get all if not most of your money back for it.

Sadly, the Thunderbolt connection on the display requires a system with a Thunderbolt port. It is not downwardly compatible with a DisplayPort based system. I don't know of any way to retrofit the connection internally to downgrade the connection. Besides, you'll end up loosing the dock features of the display.

It would be an expensive experiment! trying to dissect the logic board to make this work. I doubt anyone has even tried. - Sorry

Wouldnt it be technically possible to discard apples logic board, and use a board with hdmi/dvi ports, compatibe with thunderbolt's panel. there are some chinese companies in ebay selling generic boards adapted for different panels.

I know It has been done for imacs (conversion to displays)
