Hold in the menu and play buttons. It's worth noting that the battery is probably shot completely; you'll need to plug it into a source of FireWire power for it to boot.

Thank you. I just bit the bullet and ordered a new battery and tools for installation. It's my bad that it sat there, unused, for years. Hopefully, I can recover my music.
