Home button works except to wake, ideas?

Hi,

I replaced the screen assembly on an iPhone 6 and everything went smoothly. The display is fine and all the buttons work including the home button, except when the phone has been locked. If the phone sits for five minutes or so, the home button will do nothing if the phone is locked and you have to use the lock button to wake it up. Otherwise it functions properly. Any ideas?

Can't see why the screen would have anything to do with the functioning of the home button if it is working properly (and the home button works fine except for waking it up when it's locked).

I should add that this isn't that common a problem seeing that the home button works except for one function.

Actually, in my opinion the least possible is the home button.

It was actually the home button cable that runs along the back of the LCD plate and plugs into the logic board. I replaced it and that solved the issue.

I just had the exact same issue. Replacing that same cable fixed it. Apparently, the cable was damaged where it's adhered to the back of the screen at the Home Button. One or two of the wires must be specific to waking the phone.

Sounds like damage to the home button ribbon cable. Not sure why it would cause it to act that way but that seems like the most likely issue. It may also be worth while to open the iPhone up and inspect the ribbon and its logic board connector.
