Why is my phone not charging or being recognized by PC?

Hey can anyone help me, my iPhone 3gs isn't charging, but when I plug it in to computer it turns on but then doesn't charge or appear on itunes or the computer.

Update:

I have ruled out the cable because both my ipod and iphone 4 charge with the cable.

I just finished replacing the dock connector but now the screen is white when I turn it on :(

Any advise?

Hey Dmtech94, it could be that the new battery is faulty or the charger is broken. Check to see if the charger is broken, then if it still doesn't work then replacing the battery again would be another solution. Another solution, if it doesn't work after is to replace the logic board.

-Let me know how it goes.

Dmtech94, check to see if the screws were placed correctly and make sure everything was properly reassembled. If it still doesn't work, press and hold the power and home button for 10 seconds until the screen shuts of then right when it turns on let go.

I tried what you said but it just stays white :(

I made sure everything is properly reassembled and it still is white, could it be the logic board?

by

Yes, as I stated in the answer if nothing else works then changing the logic board would be another solution.

Dmtech94, since "doesn't charge or appear on itunes or the computer" I would suspect the dock connector. First of course try a different cable and a different computer. Check the dock connector. Make sure that you clean it with some isopropyl alcohol and a few puffs of compressed air. If the results are still the same, replace the dock connector

give this a try. Press and hold the home button, the up-volume button, and then the sleep/power button at the same time. Press and hold until the Apple logo appears, release all the button s and see what happens.
