iPad mini repair: home button activating on its own?

So I just repaired an iPad mini and when I closed down the new screen the home button started activating on its own. Its stuck? Help!!!

Usually this means the ribbon cable didnt have tape over it to protect from shorts or you pinched the cable and caused a short in it.

I removed some yellow tape from over the home button on the new screen...should I put it back on?

yes also make sure you have no creases in the ribbon cable. It should be folded but not hard bends.
