Dictation punctuation puts word "period" instead of (.)
Why word period and not actual punctuation (.) ?

Hey Jill, it seems to me that someone was probably messing with your phone and created a shortcut that made "." become a shortcut for "period". A fix for this is to go to Settings>General>Keyboards>Shortcuts and remove the annoying period shortcut.
