Anyone got a motherboard schematic? Both USB's have no power.

Both USB's (USB 2 & USB3) both dead - no power. Laptop fires up, works well - but nothing detected at BIOS level, tried a Linux "live cd" - still nothing.

Fixing for a friend, and can tell a drink has been spilt on the laptop as motherboard has corrosion and even rust, which I've cleaned - but obviously looks like something has shorted out.

If anyone can help - would be great. Motherboard schematic for the Asus X54C laptop would also be great so I can test components myself too.

Thanks in advance.

What numbers are stenciled on the board? It may help to properly identify the motherboard.

What I can see printed on the motherboard:

Asus K54C Main Board.

Rev 2.1

tmt YA-4R 1 94V-0

E114139

11 43

Note the model of the laptop is X54C (while motherboard states: K54C)

Thanks in advance.

Scott, see if this looks like your board. Not an easy task to find anything.

It's very close...

My images can be seen here: http://1drv.ms/1JHIY2J

Most of the parts / ports seem to be listed correctly, but there are a few differences, one of which I've taken a picture off. The "battery" number matches up: BAT2001, while PL8005 + VCORE on your diagram is labelled as PJ8002 on my board. Not sure if this schematic will do the job or is as detailed as I require with the drink being spilt on the laptop - it could be one of the smd resistors or capacitors or a chip which is why I think I need something more detailed to give me voltage ratings of what to expect along the live path from the A/C jack to a USB port (assuming fixing one will fix the other).

I've done a little investigating and using a multimeter the USB ports are both getting 1.10v - obviously a huge drop from the 5v required - no wonder nothing is being detected!

Hope the pictures are good enough for you.

Thanks for your help upto now - it's very much appreciated.

Scott,

I've given up! The friend now has her laptop back (without the USB's working).

I contacted ASUS directly - I knew I was pushing my luck anyway... but had nothing to lose. They contacted me back but stating schematics are for the engineers only - so a dead end.

The X54VC and various other board variations, seemed to be different enough to stop me tracking down the power issue.

Thanks for your help anyway. Nice to know people are willing to help out !
