Need to replace USB port

I have arranged to return this "refurbished" device that came with a damaged USB port. I want to know if I could instead just fix it. A Batteries Plus franchise told me they wouldn't do it, as it requires micro soldering the motherboard. Would I need a special tiny soldering iron and microscope to do this? I have done old-school through-hole soldering in years past, but this is a different beast entirely. I couldn't find any online repair guides for this specific repair. How doable is this, and what equipment and parts would I have to buy?
