How to repair screen / graphic card : grey bar through screen
I plugged my iPad 2 one morning, and at the same evening, it just couldn't open anymore.
Actually, a grey bar is flowing horizontally through the screen, a bit like in this picture I found on the net (http://i.imgur.com/bKyaJ9F.jpg) but under this grey bar, there is a total black screen. I can't open any app, it's just totally not responding when I tap on the home button, except to show me this gracious grey bar.
When I went to the App Store, they just told me it was a graphic chip/card problem, which just died. And of course, they couldn't help me without getting my whole wallet in return.
Any suggestion ? :/

Take a picture of your iPad and post it, to help understand your issue. You're saying the LCD is faulty and the touch screens is not accepting any orders. Those 2 functions are mostly separated and rarely happen together.
Are you sure your iPad was not dropped hard?

If your ipad was not dropped or anything first things i would try is to simply hard reset the ipad by pressing the home and power button until it restarts if that doesn't fix it you are probably looking at a bigger problem like a bad LCD!

I bought only two items from apple and now I learned I will never ever buy more.
I had two bad experiences with Apple. Once I bought Macbook Pro. The hard drive cable burned after 2 years when warranty finished. And I fixed it in 250 bucks from Guru, a small personal technician. It is working now. Bestbuy was charging me 300 bucks for diagnostic and then they was not giving guarantee to fix. I could have to spend 700$ more.
Second experience is with Ipad model 1474. After 1.5 years the Ipad go in to deep sleep. I talked to technical support they said booth this way, boot that way. I tried all the way according to their guide. Then screen never came back. The I googled. I tried hardest boot shown on x website after 4 months. I luckily got apple symbol on screen. I got hope to get recovery. but no luck, no more guide how to recover at that time. Screen on and off showing apple but I can't be able to eat that apple. After two years means total 4 years still this junk is not working
