Known as the ''PS2'', it is a sixth-generation video game console first released by Sony in Japan in March 2000. The United States saw it later in 2000 with the SCPH-30000. Repair of this device requires only common tools, but can get tricky.

Console won't output anything, discs won't spin, how does one fix this

So my PS2 is a SPCH 77002, a slim, and awhile back when I was younger I opened it just to see as kids do. I believe it worked after this but I can't remember, anyway now if I turn it on the light turns green, the laser will move (as normal), but the discs don't spin and there is no output. I've checked the AV cord, that's not the issue. Initially it made a grinding noise but that was a problem with the worm gear that I fixed. thanks for any help :)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Seems like lens malfunctioned. Now that you are grown up, you can safely repeat the same take-a-part skill and replace lens with the new one. You can get one from here: http://amzn.to/1LI2DPq

Before you buy, make sure that you are verifying with the part number or model. Hope it helps.
