Sony Vaio VPCCA USB 3.0 Port Stopped Working!

Recently the USB 3.0 port on my Sony Vaio VPCCA/CB Series laptop has stopped working. I did notice that it came up with a message whilst I was using a USB soundcard saying that there had been a "power surge" on the port and it was since then when the trouble started.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers to no avail and I'm guessing that the port is dead.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Is it possible to fit a new USB port or are they not replaceable?

Most of the USB Drives on laptops are part of the motherboard. So yes they are changeable but you have to replace usually the whole motherboard. The usual cost depends on the laptop but usually about 140-250$ for a new motherboard off ebay.
