Jesus christ. Most helpful answer is replace board!!!
1) First thing to do is try a different battery. If this works, great. If this doesn't work...
2) Second thing to do is take your oscilloscope and measure pulsing on data line that communicates between battery indicator LED, battery, SMC, and ISL6259 on data line side of R5280 & R5281.
3) If it is NOT measuring properly, meaning, topping out at 3.42v with spikes down to 0v every now and then, unplug battery indicator LED from the board. See if it recognizes battery now.
4) If it doesn't work, now it's time to fix the board. But this is a 2011 model, so we don't fix these boards because Apple does it for free. The catch? They only do it for free if you have a GPU defect, which you're going to have to manufacture here. Sit this thing in the sun and run GPUtest on it until it has GPU artifacts, take to Apple, and they will fix for free. https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro...

Hey Nick, are the fans and front light working?
by iApple
The front light flashes 5 times and the it fades back on and goes off. It does not seem that the fans are running.
