How to access the hard drive externally?

I have a 2009er 24" iMac with a broken motherboard. I'd like to save the data and therefore remove the drive with this nice guide:

iMac Intel 24" EMC 2267 Hard Drive Replacement

But then, what would I have to do to access the data with USB, like an external hard drive ?

Thanks a lot.

IFIXIT offers a kit to allow one to connect many different HD types though the USB port of your new system. Here's what they offer: Universal Drive Adapter.

If you get a different unit make sure it has an external power supply as the 3.5" drives draw to much power via the USB port to work correctly.
