I can't open the battery cap, what can I try?

I have an Apple Wireless Keyboard, which I haven't used for a while. I tried opening the battery compartment, but it won't open, it looks like a battery may have leaked, but I kind of want to see if I can salvage the keyboard because it cost a lot of money and I'd like to go back to using bluetooth...

Options

Try using a large flat headed screwdriver instead of a coin, as you'll get much more leverage. But be careful you don't scratch the keyboard or get acid on your self:)
